We produced a prototype for a new restaurant built entirely using shipping containers, incorporating the modular shapes and spaces to form the basis of the architecture.
This project was also a renovation to an existing popular tavern site that had been in continuous use for more than 100 years.
We welcomed the challenge to experiment with new and exciting forms generated from the modular dimensions, and were able to successfully interweave a complex interior space, serving as the backdrop for the unique and stylish interior design.
Project
Description
We wrapped the existing structure with overlapping and intersecting shipping containers - which became the front of house bar and dining areas - and the interiors were informed by Coop's high-level artistic and urban styling, with elements of skateboard and grafitti culture.
We also used kitbashed cartoon character designs to add an edgy counter-culture, adult contemporary attitude, with elements of 50s and 60s era kitsch, resulting in a fun, complex atmosphere with contrasting visual styles.
